Caffeine may affect estrogen in women

The team conducted experiments with more than 250 women of different ethnicities. Volunteers are required to drink caffeine-containing beverages daily, such as coffee and green tea. The amount of caffeine consumed per woman is about 200mg per day.

Results showed that Asian women who consumed 200mg of caffeine per day had higher levels of estrogen than women who did not use caffeine-containing beverages.

However, white women who consume 200mg of caffeine daily have lower levels of hormone levels than women who consume less. Meanwhile, caffeine hardly causes changes to estrogen levels in black women.

'Research results show that caffeine may affect sex hormone levels in women of childbearing age , ' said Dr. Enrique Schisterman of the British National Institutes of Health .
