According to experts, this particular incarnation of Dynastor darius butterfly larvae is a form of self-protection from predators that threaten to attack it.

Dynastor darius butterflies have a relatively long life of 10-30 days. The caterpillar girls often lay eggs on leaves that are their favorite food. Eggs are very small, green and have many different shapes but are mostly spherical.

The egg is surrounded by a thin layer of wax on the outside called a membrane . This is to prevent evaporation of water before larvae have time to fully develop.

The growth process of eggs will take place strongly in about 3 - 21 days. Caterpillars are also larger, they begin to find suitable places to pupate .
