A Canadian company is developing a balloon-like machine that can collect wind at a height of 300 meters in the sky. This turbine is cheaper than traditional turbines and can obtain energy from stable winds at high altitudes, even in areas without strong winds near the ground.
Magenn Power, based in Ontario, plans to build 10-kilowatt generators to power the remote villages of India, China, Pakistan and Africa.
This power generation system, called Magenn Power Air Rotor System (or MARS) looks like small air balloons in sports competitions. The only difference is that it does not fly freely. It is anchored firmly to the ground at both ends, while the middle part is equipped with large wings that will turn in the wind.
The generated energy will be collected and converted into electricity in the generators located at both ends. The current is transferred to the ground in two wires, then transferred to the transmission parts.
To maintain equipment, the worker will press a button on the winch placed on the ground station, and lower the balloon.
