How to continue learning even when you are sleeping?
We all know that sleep is the time for the brain to categorize and organize all the information received after a long day of activity. But now, scientists also discover another interesting thing about sleep - that is, the ability to learn in sleep.
We all know that sleep is the time for the brain to categorize and organize all the information received after a long day of activity. But now, scientists also discover another interesting thing about sleep - that is, the ability to learn in sleep.
Do not believe it? So let's follow this simple experiment.
A team of researchers from Northwestern University asked participants to learn how to play two different tracks. After that, they were taken to a room and had a nap for about 90 minutes. During the time when they fell asleep, one of the two pieces of music will be played continuously.
When the participants woke up and took the second test, they all showed better memorization and played better than the music they were listening to while sleeping.
Results from the trial were published in Nature Neuroscience.
If you still feel skeptical, perhaps you will assume that this is no different from those who are able to learn a language while sleeping. However, psychologist Paul J.Reber at the Smithsonian Research Institute did not think so:
'The key difference is that our research shows that memory can be reinforced by what we have learned. We are not talking about learning new things in sleep, but how to enhance existing memories by recreating the information that the brain receives. "
Until now, scientists have not been able to understand what will happen inside the brain when we sleep. Even so, these new discoveries may be the key to answering the still-unknown unknowns.
During sleep, the brain will only absorb information through hearing, at least that is what we gain through experimentation. Therefore, instead of sitting on the desk all night, you can still practice by going to bed early with a headphone and listening to the entire lesson recording of the day.
A small note is that we are learning how to memorize and reinforce memory, not to acquire new knowledge. Also, if you intend to improve your visual skills, it's best to learn while awake, don't try to learn while sleeping because you'll forget everything as soon as you wake up.
On average, an American sleeps 7.6 hours a night - equivalent to 200,000 hours throughout his life. Therefore, we should not waste that precious time to improve our cognitive abilities. So what are you waiting for without headphones and start today!
