Hundred-year-old eco-forest in the village

Na forest is larger than 17ha, is a natural forest between the only remaining plain in Quang Ngai, contained in the heart of an extremely diverse ecosystem: ancient and immense with hundreds of flora and fauna species.

On the inter-communal road connecting the national highway 1A to Duc Thanh, Mo Duc district, the Na forest is green in the middle of the rice field. The ancient trees: sap, brooch, white gold, with . shaggy shells, big diameter, hands and feet, reaching high and high.

Na forest, about 17ha wide, which is Lam Cam of Thi Pho Nhi village in the past (now Duc Thanh commune) is a natural forest in the middle of the plain. According to the ancient call of the local people, the word "Na" means "Ruong" , because Na forest is associated with the surrounding arable land, playing a role in maintaining water sources for agricultural production. The special feature of Na forest is the flooded forest but exists in dry land in the coastal area.

Na forest plays a role as a "micro-climate ", which works to prevent winter winds and winds, and summer to prevent sand from the sea blowing in, limiting sand to invade fields, supplying water to surrounding fields.

In the middle of Na forest, there are many bomb holes - relics of fierce war years have become fish ponds, natural water reserves all year round to create humidity for the surrounding fields. During the war years, this place was the base of operations and refugees of revolutionary cadres in Quang Ngai province.

"In the war of Na forest, it has saved many people in the village, become a strong base to hide officials. Now, the forest has accumulated water to supply rice fields in the dry season, to prevent wind in the storm season , " he said. Phan Van Tien (73 years old) proudly said.

Conducting the project "Researching on creating database, proposing solutions to preserve biodiversity, environment and history of ecological area in Na forest" , scientists of Department of Science and Technology, Department of Finance Quang Ngai's whole environment recorded 123 species of vertebrate animals, 52 species of plants (timber trees, making rare and precious medicines) . living in Na forest. In particular, many waterbirds such as storks, cauldron . often gather, live in large numbers up to thousands of individuals.

Scientists note that Na forest is a beautiful landscape with natural forest, swamp, hillock surrounded by villages, fields and near Duc Minh beach. " If you know that conservation, investment in exploitation and Na forest will become a historical revolutionary relic, ecotourism attracts tourists , " Master Nguyen Quoc Tan, Head of the Department of Environmental Protection Quang Ngai, said.
