Hunger when drinking alcohol is inherited

Picture 1 of Hunger when drinking alcohol is inherited Finnish scientists have found a reason why some people become aggressive when drinking a lot of alcohol, while many others just quietly go to sleep.

Dr. Roope Tikkanen, a scientist from Helsinki University Hospital (Finland), affirmed drinking behavior and the trend of genetically related violence.

'People react very differently when drinking alcohol. Most feel comfortable and like to talk, while some are impulsive and aggressive , ' Roope said.

Roope and colleagues analyzed the genes of 174 men who used to be addicted to alcohol and had violent behavior when drunk. They found that alcohol increased the risk of violent behavior in men with one gene producing monoamine oxidase A.

If monoamine oxidase A exists in the body with a high concentration, people tend to perform unmanageable actions when drinking alcoholic substances. But its effect decreases as age increases.

"This finding could help pharmaceutical professionals create drugs to prevent aggressive behavior when drunk or beer," Dr Roope said.
