India faces the risk of water shortage
According to the tracking results of NASA satellites (US Aerospace Agency), many parts of India are facing the risk of severe water shortage.
Grace discovered in northwestern India, including Delhi, the water table dropped about 4cm each year. In Nature, the team analyzing data from Grace satellite said the region's rainfall has not changed, while the demand for water is too high, mainly for agriculture.
The discovery comes two days after the Indian government reported a warning of the risk of a water crisis in the country.

About ¼ India is going through a drought period because of less rain and latency than every year. However, according to NASA research, the weather and climatic factors are not the main cause of the decline in water resources in the northwestern states of Rajasthan, Haryana and Punjab. ' People are pumping too much water, ' the team said.
Three years ago, scientists responsible for Grace satellite monitoring noted water losses in many parts of Africa, but the current situation in India made them more interested.
' For six years of research, we have recorded about 109 km3 of water that has disappeared from this area, twice the amount of water supplied by India's largest reservoir from 2002 - 2008, ' said Dr. Rodell of the research group to speak.
Dr. Raj Gupta, a scientist working at the International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center (CIMMYT), said the drought will make the situation of falling groundwater in India worse.
' Without rain, farmers will pump more water. They need irrigation so they pump more and more water. This needs to stop today or tomorrow , 'Dr. Gupta warned.
