India has laws to protect wildlife and has introduced strict sanctions against violators. However, due to the loose implementation of law, plus tiger skin to bring a high profit . the poaching and tiger trade are quite prosperous in this country.

'Park management needs to patrol and monitor more closely if they want to save this tiger,' said Fateh Singh Rathore, a former conservationist.

In 2001, the US Geographic Organization estimated that only 5,000-7,000 Bengal Tigers live in the wild world, half of them in India. However, conservationists believe that this figure is in fact only about 2,000, even only a few hundred.

This is not the first time that Ranthambore National Park has lost many precious tiger animals. In early 2005, the park also reported losing 18 Bengal tigers.
