Instant detection of all types of toxins

Scientists at the University of Jerusalem have recently developed a bio-sensor capable of instantly detecting all types of poisons.

The Dip Chip , made by two professors Yosi Shacham-Diamand and Shimshon Belkin at Tel Aviz University and the University of Hebrew, contains a special bacterial tube that binds to produce biochemical reactions. when exposed to any toxic chemicals) and sensor electrodes.

When the tube comes in contact with the chemical, the bacteria react with any chemical signal released. This chemical signal is converted into electrical signals by electrodes. From analyzing the output of the electrode, the device can accurately diagnose the food that has been poisoned.

Research is considered extremely useful for soldiers and camping enthusiasts.

Shacham-Diamand hopes the Dip Chip can be miniaturized to be integrated into smartphones or other mobile devices.

The Dip Chip was originally designed only to monitor the water supply.

Technology can be used in animal laboratories to test the toxicity of newly developed materials.
