Japan funded VND 552 billion for Ninh Thuan 2 nuclear power

The cost of implementing nuclear power plant consultancy services will be directly disbursed by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.

Today, Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) holds a signing ceremony of a consulting service contract for site approval for the Ninh Thuan 2 Nuclear Power Plant Investment Project with Japan Atomic Power Company. Ban (JAPC) in Hanoi.

Under the contract, JAPC will provide consulting services within 18 months. The cost of implementing this consultancy service is funded by the Japanese Government with a total value of 2 billion (equivalent to VND 552 billion) directly disbursed by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan.

Ninh Thuan 2 nuclear power plant has a total installed capacity of about 2,000 MW built in Vinh Hai commune, Ninh Hai district, Ninh Thuan province, with improved light-water kiln technology.

Ninh Thuan 2 nuclear power plant under Ninh Thuan Nuclear Power Project is invested by EVN. This is the first nuclear power project in Vietnam, under the National Electricity Development Plan for the period 2011-2020, taking into account 2030 (General Diagram VII). Previously, MT Geological Survey vessel Choyo Maru, of Kawasaki Japan Geological Survey Company came to Vietnam and is surveying marine geology for the construction of Ninh Thuan 2 nuclear power plant project.
