Japan: Take advantage of the old airport to install solar panels
In order to make the most of the high-light areas to install solar panels.
In order to make the most of the light-filled areas for solar panels, Kagoshima and Miyazaki prefectures in central Japan have become typical areas of leading the nation in utilizing infrastructure. , including the old airport, to install power generation panel systems up to nearly 1km in length.

In Makurazaki City, Kagoshima Prefecture, Makurazaki Airport was once one of the top beautiful airports in Japan, which was exploited in 1991. However, due to rising operating costs while profits were low, So this airport has been closed since March 2013.
Two Orix companies in Tokyo and Fukuoka Electric Power decided to rent the airfield of the airport to install solar battery systems. Accordingly, the entire runway with a total length of 800m will be covered by 33,500 tons of panels.
The total area for installing solar panels is estimated at 129,000m2, allowing 8.2mw electricity to be produced. As expected, the installation will be completed by September 1.
Meanwhile, in Nobeoka City, Miayazaki Prefecture, Japan's largest artificial skiing ground, with an area of 42,300 square meters, is also installing 8,400 panels to harness electricity from sunlight. The panels are arranged in the shape of flowers, are evaluated by the provincial authorities and bring both the value of exploitation benefits, both valuable in tourism and the environment.
As expected, this power supply station will operate from mid-September, with a maximum capacity of 2 megawatts. Nobeoka City expects this to be a new attraction for the city in the future.
