According to Reuters , TEPCO currently holds 110,000 tons of contaminated water in special tanks at the Fukushima Daiichi Plant. However, experts warned that because Fukushima prefecture is in the rainy season, contaminated water can flow out of tanks and spill into the sea, causing radioactive contamination . TEPCO officials admit radioactive water risks spilling into the sea within the next week. Therefore, if it is not possible to resume cleaning of contaminated water within a week, TEPCO will face serious problems.
