Lumbia brace for back pain
Back pain affects 80% of the population, both young and old, regardless of the time of illness.
There are many causes for back pain, but age, bone problems, spinal injuries and especially posture (walking, standing, sitting) are unreasonable causes are most mentioned. So, Lumbia was born to help prevent or cure back pain, which if left untreated can lead to permanent damage to the spine, even surgery.
Lumbia by the Research Center Tecnalia (Spain), FIK Foundation and Bioscience Engineering Company (Italy) co-development. It is equipped with sensors and vibration devices that interact directly with the lower back muscles, with the intention of recognizing the user's wrong posture and alerting them to correcting them. In treating back pain, Lumbia patients will perform a variety of exercises (like physiotherapy) while the data will be collected and transmitted wirelessly to the doctor's computer.
Accordingly, if the patient uses the wrong muscle groups in a move, the vibrating devices will tell them where to adjust. Information about the patient's wrong posture also helps the doctor see the cause of the patient's back pain and effective treatment.
Experts hope Lumbia will be available in 2014.
