Massage slippers help reduce stress, stimulate memory created by students

This is one of three ideas to overcome nearly 30 projects to win the final prize in the final round of the Community Technical Project Project, attracting more than 150 students.

Sharing about massage slippers , Doan Thi Thanh Thao, a fourth-year student at the University of Technology - Da Nang University, said that through the survey, the group found that many people now have to stand as much as teachers and receptionists. , salespeople . often have foot problems, especially women who wear high heels.

While the foot has many important acupuncture points that affect the brain, if taken care of properly can help reduce stress, stimulate memory, help sleep .

Since then, a group of 5 students from many different disciplines such as mechanics, electronics, food chemistry . of the Polytechnic University, the University of Danang started to design solutions.

Initially the idea was to create a massage system inside the socks, but there was a limit to the fast-moving electronics if users sweat a lot of feet. The group turned to flip-flops, which contained a special set of equipment that could generate vibrations large enough to impact the acupuncture points under the soles of the feet to give users a sense of relaxation.

Vibration mode can also be adjusted to suit each person's status."Using 15-20 minutes a day can help relax the legs and body. Our team also recommends not to overdo the device because it can cause adverse effects on the acupuncture points," Thao said.

Thao said that in the future, the group will continue to develop products in the direction of creating sandals with different sizes, suitable for many people with different acupuncture positions.

"The group will study the use of materials to reduce the price to below 500,000 for many people can access the product. Currently, the types of foot massage on the market are quite expensive," Thao said.

Also at the competition, many of the students' other ideas were also highly appreciated such as feeding robots (FeedBot), anti-flood models for the Mekong Delta, smart locks, raincoat designs - "2 in 1" though , a trolley spraying machine .

The first community service engineering project (EPICS) , introduced in the world in 1995, is an educational model in which students work with a community organization to design and build. and deploy systems to solve problems based on technical solutions.

In EPICS model, students are guided from ideas, solutions to design, in many areas such as health care, energy and sustainable development . Currently, education under the model EPICS is applied and appreciated by many schools around the world.

In 2019-2020, the EPICS competition, sponsored by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), is being conducted by Arizona State University (USA) for many universities across Vietnam, such as the Ho Chi Minh City University of Technical Education. HCM, Polytechnic University (National University of Ho Chi Minh City), Polytechnic University (Da Nang University), Can Tho University .
