It can be said that this is the most up-to-date security update since February this year and the second most since the beginning of the year.

There are 9 patches for Windows, two for Microsoft Office and one for MS Exchange. In particular there is a patch for Windows and one for Office that is classified as "extremely important". The patch for MS Exchange is only classified as "important".

Microsoft also warned that this month's security update will change the way Internet Explorer handles ActiveX, whether the user has installed it or has not installed another patch with similar functionality before.

This is a move by Microsoft to comply with the ruling of the copyright infringement lawsuit against Eolas. However, Microsoft has also offered to allow extended execution time for developers to have more time to modify the application.

As usual, Microsoft never provided detailed information about the security vulnerabilities that will be patched in the monthly update. However, this time Microsoft revealed it will patch a security hole in MS Word that has been exploited in hackers' attacks.

And just like before, along with monthly security updates, Microsoft will also upgrade the Microsoft Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool, a non-security update for Windows Update applications, and two for Microsoft Update.
