Microsoft will provide 3D images online
Researchers Microsoft will soon announce details of new 3D software designed for the purpose of creating online 3D photo sharing for its customers.
The technical details will be discussed at the Siggraph 2006 conference this week in Boston. Expected, online 3D technology will be used later this year.
The new technology called "Photosynth", allows users to combine personal photos with thousands of photos collected on the Internet to create a detailed 3D object that can be viewed at every corner.
Photosynth is the first product of the Microsoft Live Labs division, which was established in January 2006 in a framework of cooperation between Microsoft Research and Microsoft online Services Group to create new technologies.
Photosynth started out as a collaborative research project ("Photo Tourism") between Microsoft and Washington University. This project combines new techniques and has been implemented in the field of computers, image creation, image browsing, comparison . to create 3D photo perspective collections.
