1. Unicorn tree

The well-known unicorn tree , known as the Sala tree , is a common tree in subtropical forests native to South America. Today, this species has become popular and grown in many places in South Asia and Southeast Asia, including Vietnam.

What most people like about this plant is the flower. Sala flowers grow in clusters from the trunk, Sala bunches are continuous and can be up to 3m. Sala flowers have a very fragrant smell, cool and warm flavor and are considered very precious for Buddhists.

In particular, Sala trees are able to produce fruits right from the trunk. The fruit of Sala is round, with a diameter of 15-24cm, including 200-300 seeds in one fruit. Sala has antibiotic, antifungal, antiseptic and analgesic effect.

Sala tree is also known as a sacred tree of Buddhism. According to the Buddhist scriptures, this tree is always present at the time of Buddha's birth at Lumbini and entering nirvana at Kusinara.

As a species of economic value, following the Western missionaries, cocoa trees were introduced to Vietnam very early. Currently, cocoa is grown in many parts of the country but mainly in the Central Highlands due to the ideal conditions for development.

The 4-8m tall cocoa tree is native to Central America, discovered by ancient Aztecs and Maya from ancient times. The fruit of the cocoa tree grows from the stem and is also the most valuable thing of this plant.

The time for pods to ripen is 5-8 months and can be kept on tree 3 of the week without being damaged. A cocoa fruit has many seeds inside and it is used for the food industry, namely processing high-end products like chocolate and cocoa powder.

3. Figs

The fig tree is a large tree, with a height of up to 30m and a diameter of up to 90cm.

As a kind of woody tree, growing fast, mainly distributed in tropical and subtropical regions, fig trees are almost widely spread throughout our country.

The fruit of the fig tree has a "miraculous" point that grows into a cluster right on the old tree trunk with a diameter of 2-2.5cm. The figs are reddish orange and the obvious characteristic of figs is "pores".

4. Jabuticaba tree

The Jabuticaba tree is a type of grape in Brazil, a special feature of this plant that makes it different from the types of grapes that we know are that the grape of Jabuticaba grows directly from the stems and branches.

Jabuticaba berries can be eaten fresh immediately after being picked, but they are also used to make cakes, jam or fermentation to make wine. On the market, Jabuticaba fruits are rare because they are only distributed in some growable areas.

Traditionally, dried Jabuticaba berries are used to treat certain diseases such as coughing up blood, asthma, diarrhea and being antioxidant. Currently, scientists study this fruit to be able to produce an anti-cancer compound.

5. Jackfruit tree

Jackfruit tree is a familiar fruit tree for many Southeast Asian countries and Brazil. With a height of up to 15m, jackfruit trees are a large timber tree and jackfruit wood is also very valuable in the commercial market. Jackfruit trees will produce fruits when they are 3 years old in the middle of spring and ripe in late summer.
