The aerial survival war between two seagulls recorded by natural photographer Laurie Campbell on the Farne Islands off the coast of Northumberland, England, according to Sun. In the series, the black-backed seagull snatched the young bird in its mouth, flying close to it as the smaller black-headed seagull. The mother's gull tried to regain the young bird but failed because its enemy quickly swallowed the prey.
"Swallow black-backed gulls feed on young birds. The chase takes place only 20 meters from the ground. From the moment I see them in midair until the event is over, the time is less than a minute. I am very excited. when recording this behavior, " Campbell said.
Black-backed gulls are migratory birds, wintering in waters from England to southern West Africa. They reproduce on the coast, lake, nest on the ground or cliffs. Black-backed seagulls are highly opportunistic and omnivorous. Their food sources include fish, insects, crustaceans, worms, starfish, mollusks, seeds, berries, small mammals, eggs, small birds, viscera and corpses.
