On August 21 in the capital Nay Pyi Taw a meeting was held to discuss issues related to the project with the participation of Transport Minister U Nyan Tun Aung and Program Director of Marubeni Aerospace of Japan, Shoichi Satoh.

After the launch, the Meteorological and Hydrological Authority of Myanmar will use satellites to broadcast weather forecasts via one of the satellite channels.

Last year, Myanmar took a step forward in the development of a satellite communications system by establishing a central committee and a specialized committee in charge of satellite launch.

The central committee consists of five members headed by the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications, while the committee consists of seven members headed by the media director of the Ministry of Defense.

The central committee will devise policies to launch state satellites, through memorandum of satellite launches, and implement work to achieve space-related technologies.
