NASA built the ventilator in just 37 days
The team believes the VITAL ventilator - made faster and uses fewer parts than the traditional ventilator - will provide safety support for patients with COVID-19 both in the United States and around the world.

NASA researchers have developed a high-pressure ventilator to treat patients infected with corona virus in just 37 days and are waiting for approval from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
NASA said the medical machine passed an important test this week. The device, called "VITAL" , was tested at the Icahn School of Medicine, New York City's Mount Sinai area on "high-fidelity patient simulation equipment".
Mr. Matthew Levin - director of Icahn Medical School - confirmed that they were very satisfied with the test results and the prototype performed as expected in many simulated patient conditions.
Levin added that the team believes the VITAL ventilator - made faster and uses fewer parts than a traditional ventilator - will be able to safely support Covid-19 patients both in the United States and all around the world.
"We specialize in spacecraft, not medical devices, but excellent technology, rigorous testing and prototyping," said Michael Watkins, director of jet engine laboratory (JPL), NASA . Express is some of our expertise. "
