New direction in AIDS prevention

French scientists hope to find a vaccine to prevent AIDS from studying the mechanism of controlling the HIV virus in the body of a small group of people who are resistant to this deadly virus.

Professor Jean-Franøois Delfraissy, who led the study, said that in a few people infected with HIV (less than 1% of all patients), the virus cannot penetrate itself after infiltrating the body.

Through research, French scientists discovered in the body of these special patients the type of lymphocyte immune cells - CD8. CD8 cells have the ability to control the spread of HIV by immediately destroying the CD4 cells immediately after it is invaded by HIV. CD4 is considered a ' gateway ' for HIV to enter the body, so under the influence of CD8 cells, the HIV virus cannot continue to replicate itself.

The study was conducted in 11 patients ' controlling the HIV virus ', including those who tested positive for HIV since 1983.
