Not yet confirmed two deaths in Quang Binh due to bird flu

On October 30, Deputy Director of Preventive Medicine Department (Ministry of Health) Nguyen Van Binh said: 2 deaths in Quang Binh were just suspected of being infected with bird flu. Since 24-7 to date, Vietnam has not detected any cases of H5N1 flu.

Previously, according to the announcement of the Vietnam-Cuba Hospital (Dong Hoi town, Quang Binh), there were 2 deaths at the hospital suspected of being infected with bird flu. Female patient (14 years old, in Quang Trach district) was hospitalized on October 21 in critical condition, dying 2 days later. Male patient (26 years old, in Bo Trach district) was hospitalized on October 26, died an hour later. Both patients had fever, respiratory failure, severe pneumonia, multi-organ failure .

The disease progresses rapidly and has symptoms similar to bird flu. Initial epidemiological investigation showed that 4 days before the outbreak, male patients had to buy ready-made meat at the market to eat. The family members of the female patient said that one week before the outbreak, the patient would eat a chicken egg. However, there are no outbreaks in the locality of 2 patients who have just died.

In the middle of November, the Ministry of Health will organize bird flu rehearsals in 3 regions across the country.
