The author, Dr. Lisa Croen and colleagues, followed children born between 1995 and 1999 at the Kaiser Pemanent Center Maternity Hospital. During this time, there were 132,251 births, of which 593 children with autism. Researchers have investigated whether there is an association between age of parents during pregnancy and the birth of a child with autism.

As a result, each time the mother's age increases to 10 years, the risk of having an autism spectrum up 31%. At the age of 10-year-old father, this risk increased by 28%. The researchers noted that a man aged 40 or older is at high risk of 52% and women in this age group are at a 27% higher risk than parents between the ages of 25 and 29.

However, according to Dr. Croen, these results need to be verified by other studies. In the future, she will conduct a more extensive investigation in California.

Almost every 200 children have autism. In France, there are more than 100,000 people with autism, regardless of adults or children. This developmental disorder usually occurs before age 3, heavy or light depending on age and each individual. Patients with autism seem to be indifferent to all things around and often repeat words or sentences that sound like an echo. When playing, children do not care about objects and often sway their hands or bodies continuously.
