One day, 5 earthquakes were rushing

On the morning of October 8, four earthquakes of magnitude 7.1-7.8 on the Richter scale shook the area between Vanuatu and the Solomon Islands, the South Pacific in just 70 minutes. According to CNN, this is only part of the nine earthquakes that occurred in four hours in the area.

The US Geographic Research Center said that the first 7.8-magnitude battle occurred at 0903 (local time) with the epicenter 35 km deep in the sea and 295km southwest of Luganville (Vanuatu).

The second match with a magnitude of 7.7 on the Richter scale occurred 15 minutes later, 340km from Luganville to the north-west. The third Richter match on the third, only 280 km from Lunganville in the same direction. The fourth match with a magnitude of 7 on the Richter scale occurred in the same area, 10 hours away from the first match.

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center has issued a tsunami warning for the entire southwestern Pacific region, including Vanuatu, Australia, New Zealand and Indonesia. Soon the warning was lifted with a record of three small tsunamis occurring in the area.

Residents in the area have fled to the high hills due to fear of a tsunami after receiving warnings of a strange flow of ocean currents. Not long ago the region of the southeastern Sulu Islands of the Philippines was shaken with an earthquake of 6.7 Richter scale. There is currently no information on the number of casualties from the earthquakes mentioned above, but there have been initial damage records for homes in the area.

Reuters quoted scientist Mike Sandiford, of the University of Earth Sciences (Australia), saying that a series of massive earthquakes that continued to occur in the South Pacific were unusual and warned that aftershocks may still be happens in the next few weeks.

* In another development, on October 8, Hurricane Melor, after landing in Japan, killed at least two people, injured 46 and thousands of others were evacuated. NHK said the storm had collapsed many homes, causing a power outage of more than 10,000 households near Tokyo, causing many factories to shut down and more than 450 flights canceled on the same day.
