Patients are more likely to die if they have surgery at night

Medical doctors are tired and lack of personnel, night surgeries are more than twice as likely to cause death compared to daytime surgeries.

The conclusion was drawn by researchers from McGill University (Canada) from a 30-day survival-based study at the Montreal General Hospital of Montreal. According to WebMD, the authors reviewed data of 41,716 emergency surgeries from April 2010 to March 2015. The surgery time is divided into daytime (from 7:30 am to 11:29 pm), at night (from 15:30 to 23:29) and at night (from 23:30 to 7:30).

Scientists found that patients who had surgery at night were 2.17 times more likely to die than patients who had surgery during the day. Besides, the risk of leaving the operating table at the end of the day is 1.43 times higher than those who were earlier intervention.

The project of night surgery is risky because of various causes , such as the fatigue of the medical team, the shortage of manpower and the treatment of delay.
