An 8-month-old Labrador dog in Whidbey (Washington, USA) has just shocked his employer when he 'spends' on a strange object thought to be an ancient mammoth tooth.

It is worth mentioning that the 8-month-old dog actively dug a hole in his garden. The owner of this dog initially thought it was a rock or a piece of wood, not thinking it was a mammoth tooth.

The 8-month-old dog released a master of a giant elephant's fossil.

'After looking closely, I found it looked more like bone because there was a coating on it and it was partly worn out,' said Lacewell, owner of the dog.

Shortly thereafter, Lacewell sent a strange object to the Burke museum experts at the University of Washington. After the investigation, archaeologists determined that the strange thing about the tha dog was a real giant tooth and dated to 13,000 years.

'I can't believe a dog can help discover a fossil,' said Andrea Godinez, a museum spokesman.

Previously, researchers have also found some other elephant fossils on Whidbey Island. This is also the place that is believed to be home to the extinct giant fossils in the last Ice Age.

'Pretty much elephant teeth and some bones have been found on Whidbey, including Ice Age sediment , ' said Elizabeth A. Nesbitt, who is in charge of paleontology research at the Burke Museum.

The Burke Museum also said that the peach dog's teeth were rare but not enough for the museum to put in collections for display. So the tooth will be stored by Lacewell.

In December 2015, a 10-year-old girl also found a giant tooth while walking along the beach on Whidbey Island. The museum confirms that it is the tooth of an adult giant elephant dating from 12,000 to 30,000 years old.
