According to the Daily Mail, when Leanne was born, she had only one heart and "gained" two more hearts after two heart transplant surgeries, the latest one took place three months ago. She is currently recovering and resting at her home in Choppington, Northumberland (England).

Leanne's family said she was a normal and healthy girl since she was 12 years old. However, in April 2002, a strange virus that unidentified doctors spread in her body attacked her heart muscle cells, causing her to suffer from severe heart failure.

To save Leanne, the doctors decided to have her heart transplant surgery. The first surgery was done in 2002, the heart was transplanted from a young woman who died from a head injury.

However, only 14 months later, Leanne's body found the heart to be a "stranger" and began to attack, so that the drugs that doctors gave to Leanne, even the strongest, didn't work.

The doctors then attached a pacemaker to help the heart stabilize the beat, but they failed because it was too weak. In 2003, Leanne was hospitalized for special care.

Leanne's second heart transplant for a 35-year-old man in London died of a traffic accident. Talking about this new heart transplant, Leanne said it was a "once in a lifetime" opportunity because hospitals were lacking in donor organs. And her parents said it was the only option, because otherwise, she would only have a maximum of 30 days to live.

The average survival time for heart transplant patients is 10 years, many people can live for 20 years or longer.
