Prehistoric tanks crawling under the sea?
Sea Sam is also called by the name
Sea Sam is also known as "sea tank", "prehistoric tank". For children, they also think it is a toy, with a battery and can be moved.
Every year, in May, in Dela Ware Bay and in the East Coast of the United States, there are days of "sea tanks." The adults mature temporarily away from the water environment, go ashore to perform the task of maintaining their race.
They have been on Earth more than 360 million years ago, while dinosaurs are only 65 million years old. However, their understanding of body structure and marine life remains a mystery and challenge for oceanographers.
For centuries people have caught, exploited them as food for humans or livestock, but there is little information about them. It was not until 1967 that an American professor named Keffer Hartline worked at Syracuse University, giving them research information.
"Sea tanks" can reach maturity of 5kg and up to 80cm long. Owning a very hard shell, many people mistook them for their relatives. However, "sea tanks" are in the same class as spiders and scorpions. The hard, sharp, flexible tail helped "sea tanks" easily turn over if teased by the waves making them upside down.
It took 9 years for the "sea tank" to really mature and start mating. Our people often have the phrase "stick like sam" because during the mating season the male likes to hold on to his partner's back. They used the front legs to hold onto the back of the female.
Sam digs a hole and lays eggs there, layer by layer. Males are responsible for "watering" the sperm for the eggs. Thus, after a series of combinations, the female will produce about 80,000 eggs. In the breeding season of sam, every square meter of coast contains 500,000 eggs. The round, soft round eggs of course will be a good prey for seabirds. Plus the scorching sun of the sun, the number of samsons born is very small compared to the proportion of eggs that the mother sam gave birth to.
One thing few people expected, this animal had 10 eyes. In addition to the two main eyes that we can easily see, they also have 8 more eyes that look like car lights, under the apricot, almost in the ground. Their eye structure is very similar to the human eye, so they can recognize colors. That is why it helps them find their partners through the color and contrast of the light.
Currently, medicine is watching "sea tanker" as "salvage". Because their blood contains a lot of iron and easily cools when exposed to toxins that contain bacteria from meningitis and cholera. Scientists built artificial ponds to study the life of this species.
