A farmer named Tran Minh Sanh (Ward 8, Soc Trang City, Soc Trang Province) on the afternoon of August 3 while taking care of the corn field behind the house accidentally kicked the body of a giant python.

The python weighs nearly 100kg, is longer than 6m. Thought to encounter 'python' , Mr. Sanh threw away his farm tools and ran into the house, chanting to everyone. When dozens of young people surrounded the corn fields, the ' python ' made Sanh feel terrified, the python was about to peel. After the siege, eight Sanh family members carried the python into the house and welded a large iron cage to feed.

Mr. Sanh and many local people think that this is a python, but according to Dr. Nguyen Quang Truong, Vertebrate Zoology Department, Institute of Ecology and Biological Resources (Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology), this is a species. python, not python.

Python python has the scientific name of Python molurus , belongs to Python Pythone , the Scales of Reptile class. The Hornbeams often live in trees in moist tropical forests, near water sources. They are distributed in the mountains of Asia from Pakistan and India through Southeast Asian countries down to Indonesia in the South. The life of the python species can be up to 20 years. The python species lives in many different forms of habitat from coastal mangroves to tropical forests on land mountains or rocky mountains. Their food is animals such as animals, birds and other reptiles. Python can swallow animals larger than its body diameter due to the non-conjoined jaw bone structure. The python species can lay up to 100 eggs and pythons that have the habit of hatching eggs.

'The hunted ground is depleted in nature to serve human needs such as cooking high, taking skin and making food. Therefore, Pythons are classified as species that need to be protected both in Vietnam and around the world , 'Truong said.

Land pythons belonging to Group IIB of Decree 32/2006 / ND-CP, are a group of endangered, precious and rare wildlife species that limit exploitation and use for commercial purposes; Critically Endangered (CR) in Vietnam Red Book (2007) and Vulnerable level (LR / NT) in the Red List of IUCN World Conservation Association (2012).

Before that, in the afternoon of 1/7, a shepherd named Pham Thai Hoc (Xuan Lam commune, Nghi Xuan, Ha Tinh) also caught a python weighing about 40kg, 4m long, belly diameter of 30-50cm on top Hong Linh mountain.
