Regular cooking can live longer
Australian and Taiwanese researchers have found that cooking regularly at home can help you live longer.
The conclusion comes after scientists at Monash University (Australia), Health Center and Health Research Institute (Taiwan) followed the Taiwanese cooking habits of independent people over 65 years old. .
Cooking at least 5 times a week can live longer
Among the participants in this study, there were 31% preparing home meals at least 5 times / week, 17% cooking no more than 2 times / week, 9% eating 3-5 times / week, while the remaining 43% do not have cooking.
After 10 years of follow-up, researchers found that people who cook at least 5 times a week live 47% longer.
Professor Mark Wahlqvist at Monash University, who led the study, said: 'We find that people who regularly cook are more nutritional conscious than those who don't cook. Cooking is an activity that requires good physical and mental health. '
Mr. Wahlqvist added: 'We also found that people who cook often have better meals with more nutritional content. Therefore, it is very likely that cooking is related to longevity through food selection '.
