From 2003 to 2006, the Department of Technology, Can Tho University was invested by the Ministry of Education and Training over VND 19 billion to implement the project of " Research Laboratory for Automation Technology Application ".

The goal of the project is to improve scientific research capacity, proceed to train a team of highly qualified personnel for the Automation industry of the Faculty of Technology. The project will also make an important contribution to the development of human resources, serving the Mekong Delta region in the direction of industrialization and modernization.

Automation (TDH) is one of the high-tech industries, serving effectively in the fields of industry, mechanics, agro-fishery processing . However, most research and The application of this industry is concentrated in two major cities: Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. Other cities, especially the Mekong Delta region, where the industry is starting to grow at a positive rate, the field of resettlement has not been studied much.

Can Tho University is one of the human resource training institutions and has made important contributions to science and technology for the Mekong Delta. Therefore, the project ' Laboratory for Research and Application of Automation Technology ' facilitates facilities and equipment to help the Technology Department of Can Tho University improve training and research capacity. and develop the industry.

When invested in implementing the project, the Technology Laboratory of the Faculty of Technology is located in the premises of the School Equipment Factory, which is very small and very few machinery and equipment. Therefore, the research and teaching on the field of higher education has many limitations. Currently, the university's laboratory of laboratory has been newly built, including 6 basic laboratories: CAD-CAM / CNC laboratory for automatic mechanical processing, Mechatronics laboratory - Microcontroller control, laboratory Hydraulic Control - Pneumatic, Sensor Measurement laboratory, Process control laboratory and PLC laboratory with automatic structural control programming devices. To support the development of scientific research and technology transfer, in mid-October 2006, 'Center for Research and Technology Application - Can Tho University' is under the Department of Technology, University of Need. The Center was established on the basis of the previous School Equipment Workshop, with functions and tasks: organizing the implementation of production, training, training, research, transfer and consultancy activities in the field. science and technology; serving for training and research activities of the school. The center operates on the principle of self-balancing, taking over expenditures and fulfilling financial obligations according to the law.

In scientific research, in the coming time, the Faculty will focus on researching the application of hydrographs into fields such as: hydrographics, some processes of processing animal feed, food processing, some stages in rice milling. rice to ensure the quality of exported rice, research and produce agronomic experimental equipment: phytoron, moisture control and automatic watering for breeding areas of fruit trees and trees with high economic value like flowers orchids, ornamental plants .
