Biotechnology company Ventria Bioscience (USA) has just released a rice genome with a part of the genome that is a human gene.

Ventrina said they changed the genes of this rice so that it could produce human proteins such as proteins in breast milk and saliva. Thus, rice will be able to treat a number of diseases such as diarrhea, the third leading cause of death for children in poor countries.

According to Ventrina, they are waiting for the US Department of Agriculture to approve the introduction of the transgenic rice into mass production, but in the immediate future has been delivered more than 1,200 hectares of farmland in Kansas. When licensed, the company will grow this rice to extract protein and produce yogurt, confectionery and drinks. However, critics say this " Frankenstein rice " will have unpredictable consequences for human health.
