Russia intends to bring ancient bacteria to space

Microorganisms that have existed for millions of years will be tested in space to test the viability of life on Mars.

The Siberian Times on December 11 reported that Russia's Bion-M satellite will bring bacteria to space by 2020. The experiment will help test bacteria from Earth that can survive and thrive in things. Other lawsuits like on red planet or not.

Species selected for a space trip include bacteria and some protozoa such as amoeba and hair follicles. They are located on the floor of eternal permafrost in the lowlands in northeastern Siberia. Specimens from the Wright Valley and Table Mount in Antarctica will also be examined in the universe.

"The purpose of the experiment is to find out if life can last for a long time on Mars . This is necessary to understand how long bacteria can live under similar conditions. I am planning to include both the specimen and the region's microbiota on the universe, " said Elizaveta Rivkina, scientific supervisor of the experiment.

The Russian Space Science Institute has passed the experiment. The Bion-M spacecraft will enter orbit 800 - 1,000km from the Earth's surface, twice the size of the International Space Station. The flight will last 30 days.
