Russia recorded the first death due to influenza A H1N1 infection

Vesti TV channel quoted a senior Russian health official today, September 21, saying the country has just recorded a first death due to the A / H1N1 flu virus.

Dmitry Lvov, director of Moscow-based Russian Health Science Institute, said the patient was a new female doctor returning from Bulgaria. It is known that this female patient fell ill immediately upon returning to the country, and was treated at the medical facility where she worked.

However, her health condition deteriorated dramatically during the two-week period, and was only confirmed positive for H1N1 flu when transferred to a hospital in Moscow.

' Based on the test sample, we immediately diagnosed the patient infected with the H1N1 influenza virus. However, it was all too late. We can't do anything because she died the very next day , 'Mr. Lvov said.

In a television interview, Mr. Lvov spoke out deeply about the current speed of spreading the flu in Russia.

' A H1N1 flu is present and threatens the Russian community. According to my estimates, there are about tens of thousands of Russians infected. Of course, I can't prove this right now. However, I will have proof in about 2 weeks '.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Russian Health Inspectorate Gennady Onishchenko announced last week that as of the end of September 16, all 372 cases had been confirmed to be infected with the H1N1 virus.
