Self-made telescope watching the stars

From scraps, specialized student Nguyen Tan Khai, class 11C4A, Hung Vuong High School, Pleiku City (Gia Lai) took advantage of making telescopes, freely watching the distant stars shake like the moon , Venus, Saturn .

The passion for research and exploration has rekindled since the young Khai was at the elementary school age. When his peers are engrossed in toys, Khai explores its principles. Sometimes the newly purchased toys were removed by him to watch. In the ninth grade, he made himself a telescope to observe the sky every night. This product was presented by Khai in the 4th Gia Lai Technical Innovation Contest (2008-2009). The organizers gave the third prize for this creation. Khai is also the youngest winner.

Excitement is about the first telescope: "The material to make a telescope is simply the lens of the lens from the broken camera, concave mirror, a PVC pipe as the body. and the base . Simply put, but in addition to learning about the theory and operation principle of a telescope, I have to tinker for a few months to assemble and test. finally the telescope was born ".

Khai's telescope made of scrap is only 600-700 thousand dong, very useful in observing the sky. More importantly, it helps the imagination, passion, learning of this pupil.

Khai's telescope could see Saturn's ring, the fiery red of Mars, many traces of the craters on the moon. Recently, Khai was supported by members of Ho Chi Minh City Amateur Astronomical Club (HAAC) to find and buy materials to make telescopes that are not available in Gia Lai. Khai is also a member of this club, where there are more than 1,000 domestic and foreign members participating.

Recently, Khai was awarded a certificate of merit by Doan Doan for having "the theme, innovative solutions and innovative products nationwide in 2010".
