Immediately after introducing the energy-saving IGZO screen, Sharp made the world a surprise by introducing a free-form display that can be freely customized in different shapes .

Thanks to IGZO technology and proprietary circuit design, Sharp's innovative products provide engineers and designers with the freedom to create the device.

At present, the popular smartphone screens are rectangular and must contain a control circuit in their edge. The Free-Form LCD Display will overcome most of these limitations as its control port is scattered through pixels on the screen matrix. Margins can be minimized so that envelopes are almost non-existent, and designers can customize the screen to whatever shape they want.

Free-Form Display is not just for mobile devices. Sharp's concepts include a car-control panel, an elliptical display for the device to carry, and a large screen with more impressive shapes. Hopefully, this new type of screen will pave the way for more exciting, bolder design smartphones.

It is unclear when this unique screen will be put into production, but Sharp promises that the company will try to bring it to market in the shortest time.
