Smart skirt blooms

A dress with flowers moving on the neckline, the sleeve that creates a sound that corresponds to body movement and a skirt edge curling in the mood are high-tech products prepared by a Canadian researcher. create.

Professor Joanna Berzowska and colleagues will discuss the applications of this technology at a reSkin conference in Australia next year.

Berzowska's floral dress is called Kukkia, with a neckline with flowers that can be opened or closed thanks to the electrodes attached to the skirt.

"I really want these dresses to have their own personalities," said Berzowska, art teacher at Concordia University in Montreal.

The petals are made of silk and felt, containing thin Nitinol strings. Nitinol is an alloy that can be programmed to create different shapes at different temperatures.

When these wires heat up, they shrink and pull the petals together, making the flower close. When cold, they expand and the petals spread.

Another dress called Vilkas has a skirt skirt that folds up and down depending on its mood and we can't control it. It is thanks to a micro controller that is attached to the skirt, once it is turned on, we will not be able to control it.

Berzowska also has music suits including a sound-generating pants every time you walk."When you go through public places, you'll leave a string of sounds behind you based on your walking style," she said.

She also has a pair of hands that make sounds that reflect the wearer's body movement. The sleeve will emit a higher frequency sound if you cross your arms tighter. If someone is angry or stressed, when they cross their arms, they will make a deafening sound."But when you relax the sound calms down. It's like a cat's moan , " Berzowska said.

Berzowska also has another outfit called Intimate Memory, which records intimate gestures through a microphone and light-emitting diodes on the border around the body.

The light of the diodes will light up when someone touches the shirt, whispers in the wearer's ear or blows lightly on the neck."The number of bulbs lit up shows the intimacy of the two people, like the lights flashing on the stereo," Berzowska said.
