A new generation of robot robots developed by scientists at Stanford University, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory (NASA) Chess - the weapon attacked ancient (photos), called "porcupine" robot .
These robots will follow the Photos Surveyor spacecraft to explore the Moon or other planets in the future. While floating in the orbit of the planet, the "parent ship" Photos Surveyor will deploy 5-6 "porcupine" robots and they will roll or jump on the surface of the planet. The "mother ship" will keep in contact with each of the "hedgehogs" to determine their location as well as their next destination.
The "porcupine" robot will be the preferred design for adventurers as they are capable of traveling across multiple terrains, such as the easy passage of canyons and various obstacles. Each robot holds three plates, rotating on all three axes, allowing them to spin at different speeds to create internal forces that help it move. Thanks to that, a fast spin can make it jump and the speed of the spin increases as it jumps and can travel across the planet. This "way" helps it do not need much energy when exploring the planet.
The research team at Stanford University has created prototype porcelain robots and are preparing to test them in low-gravity environments like those found in other extraterrestrial planets.
