Researchers have announced the discovery of a fossil of a strange insect named Morrisonnepa Jurassica in Utah, USA.

Unique fossils the researchers found in formations Morrison . The Morrison Formation is known as a special geological ground containing a variety of sedimentary rocks from the late Jurassic period found in the western United States, the largest source of dinosaur fossils in North America.

New insect fossils are thought to include the abdomen and possibly the head. In fact, the insect's fossils were first discovered in 2017 and seem to be related to a famous living species known as the giant water bug. Giant water beetles belonging to the Lethocerinae family can grow up to 15cm in length. The weapon of this creature is particularly noticeable by bites containing venom.

According to scientists' speculation, the new fossil insect appears to be a relatively large predator, and is related to the water beetle that attacks predators not only other invertebrates. such as snails, crustaceans, vertebrates such as fish, amphibians and snakes.

Fossils found in the same region of the Rocky Mountains are known to be quite wide mountain ranges in Western North America. This is also the place where fossils of dinosaurs such as apatosaurus, allosaurus and stegosaurus were discovered.

Researchers have previously said they always dreamed of finding real insect fossils in Morrison. Until recently, the wish came true when they discovered it under a microscope mixed with unidentified plant fossils.
