Abel Méndez, a cosmologist at the University of Puerto Rico, said that when he looked at Ross 128 for 10 minutes, he found the signal strength increased and almost cyclical. It is difficult to confirm that this is an alien signal, but this possibility is still possible.

"The observation angle of the Arecibo Observatory is very wide, so the mysterious signal may not be due to the star but from another object, such as the alien communication satellite , " Méndez said. .

However, some scientists hypothesize that radio signals originate from comets or energy outbreaks on the star's surface. Similar explosions on the surface of the Sun create magnetic storms, damage satellites, grid systems, terrestrial communication systems and endanger astronauts.

Méndez said scientists used the Arecibo Observatory to observe Ross 128 again from July 16 to gather more data.
