Successful surgery of the deformed face completely

The face of an American woman who was attacked by a chimpanzee two years ago was completely replaced by doctors at Brigham Hospital & Women in Boston.

Charla Nash, 57, was attacked in February 2009 when she visited her best friend. That chimp is over 90kg. It jumped on Charla and ripped her face and almost her hands. After the attack, Nash lost two hands, nose, eyes, causing her to become blind and face deformed. Travis, the ferocious beast, was shot dead by police in Stamford, Connecticut, USA.

She could only eat pure food, and could hardly understand when talking.

In May, Charla had to undergo a face and hand transplant in Boston. She received skin, muscles, blood vessels, nerves, palate and teeth from an anonymous donor.

But because the hands did not grow because they were not connected to the new body, the doctors had to remove them later. However, Charla said she would still hope for another hand transplant.

Charla expressed her gratitude to all the doctors, nurses and other medical professionals who helped her in the past two years."Now I can do what I want" , Charla can't hide her joy.

'I will be able to smell and eat normally. I am no longer deformed. I will have lips and will speak clearly again as before. I can also kiss my loved ones. I am very grateful to the donor and her family , 'she added.

In an interview on Today's TV channel, Charla said, her first meal after surgery was eggs and cream cheese.

Steve Nash, Charla's brother, shared that his sister had always thought about positive things since the attack, and their families were also hopeful that Charla could have a new pair of hands in the next six months if any. donor
