Successfully manufactured equipment to turn urine into beer water

After urine charging, scientists created another device that could turn urine into potable water and fertilizer.

The team consists of scientists from Ghentt University. They invented a technology that allows wastewater to be processed into potable water. The research team also confidently uses water after refining to create specialties who come to Belgium to try it, it is beer.

Dr Sebastiaan Derese said: "We can produce fertilizers and drinking water from urine using a simple process and solar energy."

Accordingly, urine after collecting into a large tank will be heated by solar energy. Hot urine continues to pass through a filter. Here, it will be separated into water and other nutrients such as potassium, nitrogen, and phosphorus. Water is used for drinking and brewing while nutrients will be used as fertilizer.

The research team successfully filtered 1,000 liters of drinking water and then used it to make beer from urine collected during the music festival.

The team installed the device at a 10-day music festival in central Ghent. They used the hastag #peeforscience to attract attention and participate in the public. From the audience's urine to play, scientists filtered 1,000 liters of drinking water. After purification water is the raw material for beer production. Dr. Sebastiaan Derese said: "We call it from sewer to brewer" .

Since the operating system does not require electricity and is easy to install, it can be used extensively in stadiums, shopping centers and airports. The team hopes the device will also be used for a long time in many rural communities in developing countries - where fertilizer and clean water for drinking are in short supply.

Process of charging by urine.

Earlier, scientists at the University of the West of England (UK) invented a way to charge the phone battery with urine. According to this study, thanks to microbial fuel cell technology (Microbial Fuel Cell - MFC) , only half a liter of urine is enough for 6 hours of charging, providing energy for the phone to be used continuously for 3 hours.

This draws on an interesting future in the concept of sustainable charging, we have a fuel that is never used up literally and is very safe to use.
