Successfully tested the tidal turbine

Scottish officials say tidal turbines have succeeded in testing.

The Hammerfest Strom HS1000 was launched winter on Eday Island in northern Orkey, Scotland. This is an experimental device that demonstrates how technology can be effectively operated by the fast tides of Scotland.

The HS1000 is 30 meters tall and has a 3-foot pillar, developed by Andritz Hydro Hammerfest, which is a version of the wind turbine. However, the propeller of the tidal turbine is shorter than the wind turbine and slower. The energy generated by the operation of the propeller in the tide stream.

After the testing phase, the HS1000 continues to operate to provide power to families and agencies on Eday Island. The European Tidal Energy Center will be responsible for controlling the turbine. Engineers can monitor the turbine by phone or camera.

The success of the HS1000 is seen as an encouraging step in Scotland's ambitious tidal power project and encourages the country to put more water turbines into operation at designated locations.

According to a report, the Scottish Government has pledged to meet 100 percent of renewable energy needs by 2030.
