Taps lifted dozens of containers on the coast of Italy

Dragon hoses with strong winds easily lift many heavy containers when entering a seaport in southwestern Italy.

A giant water cannon swept across the port of Salerno, southwest of Italy on November 20, leaving at least two people injured and damaging many heavy containers, Sun reported. The water cannon formed offshore at 3 pm local time and quickly moved into the mainland.

The sight of the water cannon in Salerno is recorded by the local people.

The scene was recorded by many people and shared widely on social networks and media. Some witnesses said a hundred-meter-high vortex lifted about 20 heavy containers at the port and knocked them around like children's toys.

Water hoses are natural phenomena that often occur in tropical and subtropical waters. They may be caused by land-based tornadoes moving into the water, or forming right on warm waters, where the air humidity is high. According to local reports, Port Salerno has experienced heavy rain over the past few days. Some areas such as Sala Consilina even flooded.

The water hose formed on the water is not as intense as a tornado, with the diameter usually not exceeding 100 m and the average wind is only 80km / h. However, some supernovae or water demons can achieve winds of up to 200km / h, causing serious damage where they pass.
