Tea essence can heal damaged skin due to radiation therapy
The extract of tea can help recover damaged or poisoned skin during radiation therapy. This is the result of research by a group of American scientists published in BMC Medical Journal (USA) in December 2006.
Analyzing the effect of green tea and black tea on 60 skin-poisoning patients while treating head, neck and pelvic cancer, the results show that both have the same effect in clicking Prefer to recover damaged skin in the head and neck area while in the pelvic area, green tea is more effective. Research suggests that tea essences help to block 'a large and multi-macromolecular protein complex' and various types of cells, in the central part of the affected area.
However, scientists also found that tea's anti-inflammatory ability is not necessarily due to the effect of the most active compound of epigallocatechin-gallate in green tea. Therefore, scientists believe that further research is needed to compare the effect between tea essences with current standard therapies, to limit skin infections caused by radiation therapy.
