Technology for early detection of brain injury in children

Scientists in the United States have developed a technology to help detect early brain injury in babies, helping to reduce the death rate due to brain injury in children.

Dr. Maria Angela Franceschini led a team of scientists at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School (USA) to work out a way to detect early brain injuries in babies.

The team has developed a technology that can measure the amount of oxygen metabolized in the brain by determining the amount of oxygen saturated in the blood and the flow of blood.

This technology helps to monitor and detect which babies may experience seizures, haemorrhage, or other dangerous conditions in the brain and allow immediate treatment, Science Daily on March 14 to lead the way. Dr. Franceschini.
