This year, according to the official announcement of the Council, the winner of the 2017 Nobel Prize for Literature will be announced at 13:00 on October 5 in Swedish time (equivalent to 18 hours on the same day in Vietnam time).

Singer-songwriter Bob Dylan won the 2016 Nobel Prize for Literature.

The winner will be selected from more than 350 proposals by literary experts and former winners. They must receive votes of more than half of these Council members.

Since 1901 until now, the Nobel Prize for Literature has honored 113 authors including 14 female writers. The French writers are the most honored, with 16 times. Then there are US citizens (11 people) and English (10 people).

In 2017, many betting and prediction sites offer a long list of writers, authors and even non-literary field artists capable of winning the Nobel Prize, from George R. R Martin to Kanye West. But the four most anticipated names are still Haruki Murakami of Japan, the Kenyan writer Ngugi wa Thiong'o, author of the Maraget Atwood Women's Story, Korean poet Ko Un.

The Nobel Prize for Literature is an annual award of the Swedish Council for individuals who make great contributions to literature. The Nobel Prize for Literature is just one of five awards awarded under the name of Alfred Nobel scientist, which includes Nobel Prize in Chemistry, Physics, Peace, Biology / Medicine.

After announcing the winner on October 5, the 2017 Nobel Prize Ceremony will take place on December 9 in Stockholm. The amount of bonuses this year is up to 9 million krona equivalent to 1 million USD (about 22.8 billion dong).
