The 23-year-old girl is half-paralyzed because of an action many people do when tired
Do you believe that pulling only the neck muscles can lead to hemiplegia?
Natalie Kuniciki , 23, now a medical worker in London, England, has paralyzed a part of her body due to a broken artery when she accidentally broke her neck joint , causing blood clots and brain stroke .
Many of us have the habit of shaking our necks and stretching every morning to wake up, and break our knuckles whenever we are worried or simply relax. But really, in addition to the extremely satisfying 'trouble' sound, nothing good happens.
In the case of Natalie Kuniciki, a seemingly innocuous act of twisting the neck joint caused a stroke, causing the young girl to be paralyzed almost half.
Actually, apart from the extremely satisfying 'trouble' sound, breaking the neck joint is not good at all.
At that time, Kuniciki was watching his favorite movie at home in West Hampstead after a tiring day. When she turned her neck in a habit to stretch her neck, Kuniciki heard the sound of "sprinkling" in her neck much bigger than ever. Kuniciki felt really painful, the pain also spread to the top of the head, but she ignored it and went to sleep. She only fell asleep for 15 minutes, and when she was really alert, she couldn't move her left leg. Only when she tried to get up and go to the toilet and collapsed, did the girl panic and call an ambulance.
At the hospital, CT scan results showed that Natalie Kuniciki had a stroke after an unusual 'sprinkle'. Doctors explained that when she stretched her neck muscles, the right artery in her neck vertebrae broke off, forming a blood clot and stimulating the stroke.
The young girl was almost completely paralyzed in the left half of her body, and spent more than a month in the hospital trying to control her limbs.
'When the expert said I had a stroke, I was shocked. I do not smoke, do not drink, family history does not have a stroke so it is really weird. Doctors say that neck muscle relaxation has caused my vertebral artery to break. In this case, only 1 / 1,000,000,000 strokes appear, why did it hit me? ' Natalie shared.
Kuniciki has undergone 3 hours of surgery, but although doctors can repair the damaged vertebral artery, they cannot eliminate the blood clot that caused the stroke. Experts say it will disappear over time, but specifically when they are not sure, perhaps when the young health worker fully recovered. Currently Kuniciki has been able to control her limbs and walk for a short time, but she must make more efforts to prevent complications.
'I'm no longer as lively as before, or in other words, extremely clumsy. I can't even button the shirt, it's really hard now. I can feel hot or cold, but sometimes the feeling of numbness still appears , "the 23-year-old said.
Should we rotate the neck joint to relieve fatigue?
Many people have a habit of shaking or breaking their necks and cracking every time they get tired. Although this gesture feels comfortable, if done improperly or abused will cause adverse health effects.
- Injury to the cervical spine : Regular shaking or cracking of the neck will lead to joint and bone damage. In the long term, it will develop into cervical spondylosis, spinal inflammation . even disc herniation.
- Hematoma : When you shake or break your neck, it will accidentally cause a physical impact that affects the walls of your blood vessels, which can cause blood vessels to split, forming a dangerous blood clot.
- Stroke : Although it is a rare case, you are absolutely not subjective because of its danger. If you break your neck too hard, it can tear the artery, delaying the process of transporting blood to the brain and other organs in the body, thereby increasing the risk of stroke.
Experts self-cracked their joints for 60 years just to prove a little thing
