The black girl turned into white because of vitiligo

Looking at the light skin of this 23-year-old girl, you can't believe that when she was born, she was black. Darcel de Vlugt is extremely rare in vitiligo, to the extent that the pigment disappears on the body.

Experts say they have never encountered such a special case of vitiligo. With normal vitiligo, white spots are usually only patchy on a part of the body.

As for Darcel de Vlugt, it was a difficult task to convince others that she was born black.

Darcel's parents, born in Trinidad, noticed white spots on the front of her daughter's arms and forehead when she was 5 years old.

The doctor diagnosed her with vitiligo, a condition similar to that of Michael Jackson . At 7, white patches appear on the lower legs and throughout the body. They grew bigger, and by the age of 17, the " color change " was completed.

" My father worked for the United Nations, and we traveled the world according to his work. The family believed that the pressure from a continuous movement as a child caused this situation, " Darcel, now home Fashion design in London, said.

" At the age of 12, I tried ultraviolet laser therapy, but it was ineffective, and at that time, 80% of my body was white so I decided to leave it alone ."

Vitiligo causes the immune system to attack pigment cells (which color the skin). It occurs with a probability of 1/100 people at any age, race and skin color, although it is often more noticeable on people with naturally dark skin. Cases of full-body vitiligo such as Darcel are extremely rare.

Darcel's brother, Dion, 29, does not suffer from this disease. Their father still works for the United Nations and is now based in Africa.
