International Falls is only the second coldest place in the United States. However, the average temperature here is the lowest in the United States at about 0-2 degrees Celsius. In 2002, the city received the title of 'America's refrigerator'. Since then, every year the city holds a festival called 'Day of refrigerator' that lasts for 4 days.

Stanley, Idaho, USA: -47 degrees Celsius

Stanley is a small town located about 209 km east of the capital of Idaho state. This is the coldest area in the United States. In addition to the lowest temperature record, Stanley holds the record for the most cold days of the year from 1995 to 2005.

ProspectCreek, Alaska, USA: -62.1 degrees Celsius

ProspectCreek is a small residential area located about 290 km north of Fairbanks. At first it was just a mine settlers' settlement. However, ProspectCreek is known to the world for its record cold temperatures. In January 1971, the lowest temperature here dropped to -62 degrees C.

Snag, Yukon Territory, Canada: -63.9 degrees Celsius

Snag is the region with the lowest temperature in North America since humans began to record temperature. This site was built on a valley-shaped valley near the White River. The name Snag began to be called since 1898.

The record low temperature appeared here in 1947. Residents living here are mainly aboriginal people, fur trade traders or meteorologists.

Yakutsk, Siberia: - 64.4 degrees C

Yakutsk is the capital of Russia's Siberia autonomous region, which is also the coldest part of the famous Siberian frozen land. Yakutsk is located on the west bank of the Lena River. The terrible cold here turned this river into a temporary road every winter. In 1822, Yakutsk officially became a city. Although it is quite far from the center of Matcow, now Yakutsk is still the center of Russian cultural, industrial and political research.

Verkhoyansk was founded in 1638 until 1971, it became a place full of political prisoners. Interestingly, apart from being the third coldest region in the world, Verkhoyansk is also the third smallest city in Russia.

Oymyakon, Siberia: -71.2 degrees Celsius

Oymyakon is the coldest area on Earth inhabited by people. Although only about 350 km from the North Pole and always in a snowy state, the area is still home to 21,000 people. Only when the outdoor temperature falls below -52 degrees Celsius, the schools in Oymyakon can take a break. Here, the vehicles are almost inactive because of freezing.

Vostok, Antarctica: -89.2 degrees Celsius

Vostok is a meteorological station built by Russia on a plateau in Antarctica with an altitude of 3500 meters above sea level. On July 21, 1983, the staff at Vostok station measured the outdoor temperature of -89.2 degrees Celsius and this place became the coldest place in the world ever known by humans.

Despite such low temperatures, there is very little snowfall in this area. In theory, Antarctica is a dry area, the annual rainfall is only about 25 cm each year.
